The Country
Officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, Egypt is one of the world's oldest nation-states, with civilization beginning there in the 10th millennium BC. Most famous for its pyramids, Egypt also has a rich history in its ancient architecture.
History
This is Egypt's third World Cup, despite having a period of domination within the African continent in the late 2000s when they won three straight AFCONs. Egypt was also the first African country ever to qualify for the World Cup in 1934.

Manager and Predicted Squad
Manager: Hector Cuper Goalkeepers: Essam El-Hadary, Mohamed El-Shenawy, Sherif Ekramy Defenders: Ahmed Fathy, Ahmed Elmohamady, Ali Gabr, Saad Samir, Ahmed Hegazi, Ramy Rabia, Mohamed Abdel-Shafy, Karim Hafez, Omar Gaber Midfielders: Tarek Hamed, Mohamed Elneny, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Ramadan Sobhi, Abdallah El-Said, Amr Warda Attackers: Mahmoud Kahraba, Ahmed Hassan Koka, Mohamed Salah, Marwan Mohsen, Amr Gamal via EvenGandhiHatesLVG
Players To Watch
Mahmoud Trezeguet: The Kasimpasa winger has been impressive in Turkey this season and has been linked with bigger Turkish clubs as well as some Premier League sides. Trezeguet is the modern winger -- a strong, fast winger who can run at defenders but is willing to put in defensive work as well. The big knock on him previously was his lack of goalscoring, but he's contributed 11 goals and 4 assists in 29 league matches this season. Goals are very scarce for Egypt outside of Salah, but Trezeguet's dribbling sometimes led to goals during qualifying and at AFCON -- it was he who won the penalty that Salah scored to send Egypt through to Russia. Egypt will be looking to Trezeguet to create havoc as teams focus in on Salah. Ahmed Hegazi: West Brom may very well be going down, but Hegazi's acclimatized to England excellently and is the focal point of the Egyptian defence. At the AFCON, he combined with Ali Gabr to form nearly 4 meters of man in front of the Egypt goal with manager Hector Cuper utilizing their strengths well in a deep defensive line to concede just 3 goals all tournament. While Egypt will certainly need his skills defending, his ability to attack set pieces could prove to be important given the lack of goals in this side. Abdallah El-Said: The best Egyptian player you've probably never heard of, Abdallah has played his entire career in Egypt. First at Ismailly and then several incredibly successful years at Al Ahly, it all came to an end after a bit of nasty transfer saga. Currently plying his trade on loan in Finland to maintain form, Abdallah is the closest thing to Aboutreika we have right now. A true number 10 who thinks quickly, can take set pieces and has goals in his game. Importantly, El-Said is the player who links up best with Salah -- his vision often unlocks passes that no one else can see and it'll be incredibly helpful to Egypt's chances of getting out of the group stage if he's in form. The manager favors Abdallah, but Cuper's defensive system isn't ideal for the nearly 33 year old playmaker. via EvenGandhiHatesLVG
Potential Starting XI

Points of Discussion
Hector Cuper and his system For a nation who hasn't been to a World Cup in nearly 3 decades, you'd think the manager who took them back would be revered. Not the case. In fact, many Egyptians wanted the Argentine sacked despite an AFCON final appearance and WC qualification. Cuper plays a style of football that would make Mourinho's bus look like a mini-cooper. Egypt will sit behind the ball, defend crosses with their lives and boot long balls forward to Salah. It may sound arrogant or unaware, but Egyptians are simply accustom to playing beautiful football and Cuper's style is very hard to swallow for many, despite the results. Gaping holes Both fullback positions are a problem for Egypt, but left-back is especially worrying. Abdul-Shafy was the experienced starter for years, but he's not the player he was. Karim Hafez was good for Lens last season, but he's just recovering from an injury now and is yet to come good for Egypt. Meanwhile, there is no clear backup for Elneny or Tarek Hamed in midfield, who are limited themselves. Omar Gaber or Ramy Rabia may deputize there. Finally, goalkeeper is not a position you want to be uncertain about, but it's not clear who the number 1 is at the moment. 45 year old El Hadary started at the AFCON, but his form has dropped since then at club level. The Striker Situation Last but certainly not least, who will play up front for Egypt? This could have fit in the gaping holes topic, but it warrants its' own section. Koka of Braga in Portugal is most likely to start, but neither he, Amr Gamal, Marawan Mohsen or ANY other Egypt striker has been anywhere near impressive for Egypt in recent years. Kahraba (a second striker or winger) has filled in there occasionally, but Cuper strongly prefers to play with a traditional number 9. If Egypt can somehow find a way to use the attention on Salah to free up one of these strikers, it could be the difference between a knockout round appearance and going home after 3 matches. But I wouldn't bet on any of these guys. via EvenGandhiHatesLVG Our thanks again to u/EvenGandhiHatesLVG for his help on Egypt! Tomorrow's country will be Uruguay, finishing up Group A! The Country
Tunisia, officially the Republic of Tunisia, is a sovereign state in North-West Africa named after the capital Tunis. It borders on the Mediterranean, featuring two of the three nearests points of Africa’s mainland as well as the northern-most point. It gained indepence from France in 1957, and has a long history of outside influence from a wide range of people ‒ such as Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Arabs, Turks, Italians, Spaniards, and the French ‒ who all left their mark on the country, making it a colourful melting pot of influences.
History
Tunisia appeared at four World Cup finals to date - in 1978, as well as between 1998 and 2006. They’ve never made it past the group stages, winning only a single game out of twelve. They won the African Cup of Nations in 2004, after coming second in 1965 and 1996.

Players to Watch
Wahbi Khazri After the unfortunate ACL tear of the tunisian prodigee Youssef Msakni, Khazri is expected to lead the team in the World cup. He was very convincing in the march friendly wins where he played as captain and was at the origin of 2 goals. He is enjoying his season at Rennes playing as either offensive midlfielder or false 9. However, he is still uncertain for the first game against England. Ellyes Skhiri The 22-year-old central midfielder is a newcomer to the team. He made his first two appearences in the tunisian shirt in the march friendlies where he played the whole two games. Already vice-captain in Montpellier, he is expected to start in the world cup and to get transfer offers in summer. Ali Maaloul Having already established himself as the best left back playing in Africa, the Al Ahly player was one of the most important players in the qualification. He was linked with Premier League teams in the last winter transfer window, but his club wanted to wait until the world for his price tag to rise. Anice Badri Having previously played in the Belgium before going to the tunisian league, the winger has been very prolific, scoring one goal in each one of the friendly games against Portugal and Turkey. He seems to have earned a place in the starting 11 for the world cup. via TeraVonen
New Coach: After the sack of Polish manager Henry Kasperczak in march 2017, Tunisia coach Nabil Maaloul was called upon to continue the mission in the qualifications. Having failed once before in the 2013 after a shocking loss to Cape Verde, he succeeded this time to qualify to the World Cup. Absence of a centre-forward and questions on the FA's integrity: With Khenissi injured and not participating, Khazri still unfit and the exclusion of Ahmed Akaichi from the definitive list, the team effectively finds itself without a true n°9. Tunisia played friendly games against Portugal and Turkey with either Khalifa or Ben Youssef up front, both of them playing mainly on the wing usually. The biggest reason behind this hole is the absence of Hamdi Harboaui, Zulte Waregem's forward and best scorer in the belgian league this season. Harbaoui scored 22 league goals (19 in 2018) this season, while the best scorers in the team now are Khazri and Khalifa, with 9 league goals in the french and tunisian league respectively. Harbaoui denounced that decision, claiming he was still punished for claims in 2013 after calling out some teammates and his coach for their lack of professionalism, despite being forgiven for them in 2016. He criticized the fact that clubs and FA president had too much say on the coach's affairs, calling the FA a "mafia". The coach gave very weak arguments about why he didn't select him, excluding the existence of non footballistic reasons and claiming he picked Akaichi instead who had qualities he didn't have, before ironically excluding Akaichi as well. The claims Harbaoui made were a secret to no one in Tunisia and are a part of much bigger problems, but people thought optimistically the responsibles will drop some of these antics, sadly it didn't happen. Last minute calls to new binational players: After achieving the qualification to the World Cup, multiple binational new players were included in the group, starting from the friendly games in march. While many are very welcome like Ellyes Skhiri who comes to become an indisputable starter, as well as the keeper Moez Hassan who will take a position that suffered a lot for years, some others raise questions like Yohan Benalouane who took advantage of the incredible decline that suffered Aymen Abdennour in the last 2 years, despite playing himself only 1 premier league game this season with Leicester. He also refused to come to the national team his whole career before changing his mind after the team qualifying to the world cup. This raises the question about what makes binationals players reluctant to join the team unlike those who play for Algeria or Morocco. We are not talking here about the likes of Ben Arfa who had potential to play for France, but players who prefer not to have an international career at all rather than play for Tunisia. It is true that some players find it hard to play for a country they only share their origins with, but getting an international career always raises a player's value and unlike other countries, Tunisia has difficulties convincing reluctant binationals to join. Reluctance of Tunisian players to go to Europe: There was a big shift in the alst 10 years on how tunisian players handle their careers. In the beginning to the century, the dream of every tunisian player was to become good enough to get recruited by a tunisian team. At the time of winning the AFCON in 2004, players were discouraged to go play in the middle east due to the then manager Roger Lemerre excluding them from the national team. Things have changed since however. First, big tunisian clubs have way more wealth than before, which means getting higher wages isn't a big incensitive enough to play in average european clubs compared to stay in the tunisian league. 5 players in the 23-man squad went to play in Europe before going back to Tunisia. Players would rather live as stars in luxury at home and not risk everything by going to somewhere he never lived and start again from 0. And second, going to play in the middle east isn't discouraged anymore, even encouraged by the current manager (and analyst for BeIN sport in Qatar, somehow he kept that job too) Nabil Maaloul. It began first when the prodigee Youssef Msakni chose to go play in Qatar rather than potentially replacing Hazard in Lille in 2013. Imagine if Salah instead of going to Basel from Egypt and slowly getting better and better in a proper environment to improve, decided it was better for him to go play a league where he guarantees getting high wages for the rest of his life. It is still a debate if the lack of competitive spirit the Tunisian players are getting will be problematic or not in the future. "Sadly" this participation in the world cup might encourage more this behavior. via TeraVonen Thank you again to Teravonen for the insight into Tunisia! Tomorrow, we'll continue Group G with England!

MIGNOLET ON THE MOVE?
Simon Mignolet's agent is in talks with Napoli over a transfer to the Serie A side, reports the Liverpool Echo. The Liverpool goalkeeper has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following Alisson’s arrival from Roma, but the Merseyside club are keen to keep hold of the Belgium international. “We’re talking, but there’s no agreement,” agent Nico Vaesen said. “It’s in the interest of the club to find a solution. “Liverpool want to keep him, but he wants to and must play. He deserves to play in a great team. “For them [Napoli], Simon represents the best option in terms of quality, but there’s also the financial aspect.” 20:53
HERRERA WANTS NEW UNITED DEAL
Ander Herrera has expressed his desire to sign a new contract at Manchester United. The 29-year-old Spaniard joined United from Athletic Bilbao in 2014 but has just one year to run on his contract at Old Trafford. “I have been able to play more than 160 games right now, so what I have in my mind is to go for the 200 games and keep adding games for the club and for myself,” Herrera told Inside United. “The way the club treats me is perfect. The love the fans show for me couldn’t be better or bigger, my family is happy in Manchester, so I will just try to give everything and use all my strength and effort to keep deserving to play for this club.” 20:20

BORDEAUX IN MORELOS TALKS
Ligue 1 club Bordeaux are in negotiations with Rangers over a move for striker Alfredo Morelos, sources in France have told Sky Sports News. Last month, Steven Gerrard turned down a bid from Fenerbache for the Colombian centre forward, reportedly in the region of £2.6m. Sky Sports News understands Rangers have rejected Bordeaux’s initial bid in excess of £3.75m. The 22-year-old, who moved to Ibrox from HJK Helsinki in the summer of 2017 for £1.5m, has scored twice in the Europa League qualifiers and once in the Scottish Premiership so far this campaign. 19:36

MALLO REVEALS FULHAM SNUB
Hugo Mallo has suggested he turned down an offer to join Fulham to stay at Celta Vigo this summer. The Celta captain and right-back was a target for the newly-promoted Premier League club ahead of Deadline Day, along with Valencia's Martin Montoya and Manchester United's Timothy Fosu-Mensah. But Mallo opted to remain in Spain, and signed a new contract at Celta until 2023 this week. “I knew the figures, I was going to earn at Fulham, but in life it's not all about money and my aim was to continue at Celta,” he told Marca. "That's why the deal (to sign a new contract) was so quick and easy.” 18:59

CHELSEA SHIP OMERUO OUT ON LOAN
Chelsea and Nigeria defender Kenneth Omeruo has joined La Liga side Leganes on a season-long loan. Omeruo takes Chelsea's tally of players currently out on loan to 32. He has never made a competitive appearance for the Blues since joining from Standard Liege in 2012. The 24-year-old centre-back spent last season on loan in Turkey at Kasimpasa, before being selected for Nigeria's World Cup squad. 17:32
VLASIC JOINS CSKA ON LOAN
Everton midfielder Nikola Vlasic has joined CSKA Moscow on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old links up with the 13-time Russian champions, who will compete in this season’s Champions League after finishing runners-up to city rivals Lokomotiv last term. Croatia international Vlasic has made 19 first-team appearances for Everton since joining from Hajduk Split on deadline day in August 2017. https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1029782631892832256 17:10
BARCA REMAIN IN THE MARKET?
Barcelona could make more signings before the close of the transfer window. Barca have been active since the end of last season, bringing in Arthur, Malcom, Arturo Vidal and Clement Lenglet to the Camp Nou this summer. But club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has refused to rule out the possibility of further arrivals at the Camp Nou before the end of the month. “The market (transfer window) ends on August 31 and we will continue to pay attention,” he is quoted by Marca. Bartomeu also says club legend Andres Iniesta, who left the LaLiga champions to join Japanese side Vissel Kobe earlier this year, will return to the Camp Nou in another capacity in the future. He added: “(Iniesta) has finished his era [here] as a player, but he will return to do other tasks that we’ve already spoken about.” 16:50
SPURS AGREE N’KOUDOU LOAN
Sky Sports News understands Tottenham have agreed to let Georges-Kevin N’Koudou joined Mainz on a season-long loan. It is understood an option for the Bundesliga side to buy N’Koudou on a permanent deal is also under discussion as talks continue between the clubs. The 23-year-old French winger is still thought to be considering his options, however, with 16 days left of the transfer window in a number of major European leagues. N’Koudou has struggled for first-team games since joining Spurs for £11m from Marseille in 2016, spending the second half of last season on loan at Burnley, where he made just eight Premier League appearances. 16:39

The move sees him reunited with Valencia head coach Marcelino García Toral, after the pair worked together at Villarreal. 15:53

PARISH SALUTES ZAHA EXTENSION
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish considers Wilfried Zaha signing a new contract the “final piece of the jigsaw” in the club’s hopes for a successful season. “It’s absolutely fantastic,” Parish said. “We’re all so committed this year to giving it our best shot, and this is the final piece of the jigsaw. “It’s nice to put all those stories to bed, stories that we knew weren’t true and were just rumour mongering. Wilfried the player that we’ve seen all summer has done everything properly and right. “He’s shown the respect he’s got for this football club, and he should be applauded for that with all the noise that was going on around him. We’ve settled everything in terms of his long-term future, so we’re absolutely ecstatic. “He’s scored the first goal when we bought the club in 2010. It’s been an incredible journey that we’ve been on together. It’s been a fantastic journey, for the club, for me, for him. It seems as though we’re intertwined on this journey, and long may it continue.” 15:15
IF NO PL PLAYERS, THEN WHO?
The left-back reportedly on Schalke’s radar is believed to be cost around €7m. The second target is Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Rudy, who is also attracting interest from RB Leipzig. Rudy has been priced at €15m – which Christian Heidel finds too high – so the club will try to negotiate a loan deal with an option to buy. 15:03
SCHALKE RULE OUT PL PURCHASES
Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has reiterated the Bundesliga club are not in the market for players from the Premier League. In an off-camera briefing, Heidel revealed that the club have been offered players from as many as 11 clubs in England in the last two weeks but they are all too expensive. Schalke has been linked with plenty of Premier League players in recent days, with Danny Drinkwater, Danny Rose and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all mentioned. However, in a press conference, Heidel maintained Schalke would focus on their own transfer targets. "We will do no more than two transfers,” he said. “And I do not really know if the second one will be possible. “I just can say that we will definitely buy a left-back. We have been in concrete talks with this player for about a week and we will buy him in the next few days.” 14:52
DYCHE DEFENDS HART SIGNING
Burnley manager Sean Dyche has defended the club's decision to sign Joe Hart on a permanent deal, despite already having three first-team goalkeepers in the squad. The Clarets lost England internationals Nick Pope and Tom Heaton to long-term injuries, while Anders Lindergaard had been struggling with a thigh problem. Burnley turned to Hart, bringing him in from Manchester City on a two-year deal worth around £3.5m. "Given the situation as it came around with the injuries that we had in the goalkeeping department, I cannot understand the debate at all. It is pretty simplistic,” Dyche said. "[It was a] random injury to Nick Pope, the one last year to Tom [Heaton] which started off a longer process, Anders [Lindegaard] goes down with a thigh injury, it is not rocket science. "The only difference is that we signed Joe and it was not a loan, but I am pleased with the business. Why would you not want a competitive unit? And all very good in my opinion." 14:15
FULHAM DUO DEPART ON LOAN
Fulham have began trimming their squad after allowing Magnus Norman and Marcelo Djalo to leave on loan. Goalkeeper Norman, who is behind Fabri and Marcus Bettinelli in the Craven Cottage pecking order, has joined League One Rochdale on loan until January. The 21-year-old has yet to make a senior appearance for the club and joins fellow keeper Marek Rodak, who is at Rotherham, in temporarily leaving the club. Djalo has joined Spanish Segunda Division club Extremadura on loan until the end of the season. The defender joined the Cottagers last summer but made only four appearances last season as Slavisa Jokanovic’s men won promotion to the Premier League. Jokanovic brought in 12 players over the summer transfer window as the club spent over £100m following their promotion. 13:20
Sassuolo and Galatasaray are rivalling Schalke for the signing of Barcelona youngster Marlon Santos, reports Sport. Marlon, 22, was on the verge of joining Newcastle on deadline day but the move fell through as the Brazilian was not granted a work permit. Schalke need a replacement for Thilo Kehrer, who will join PSG for €37m, and they are leading the chase to sign Marlon. They are willing to pay Barca €15m for the defender, who spent last season on loan at Nice. Sassuolo and Galatasaray are also keen too. The former have offered Barca €12m for the defender. 12:03
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed Napoli remain in negotiations with Arsenal keeper David Ospina. Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet is also one of the options Napoli are considering. De Laurentiis said on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli: “There are four in contention: Ochoa, Mignolet, Ospina and Tatarusanu. It is true that Ospina could arrive: we are negotiating, there are still some differences on the requests. I liked Ochoa but in the end I didn’t want him as he is a non-EU citizen ". Napoli are in need of a goalkeeper after their new signing Alex Meret broke his arm in training last month just six days after joining the club. Serie A transfer window closes on Friday at 7pm. 11:44
DE JONG LIKELY TO STAY AT AJAX
Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong has handed Barcelona a blow by insisting that he is likely to stay in Amsterdam this summer. Barca have been linked heavily with De Jong over the past few months and it has been suggested that they want to bring him to the Camp Nou before the close of this transfer window. However, the 21-year-old plans to stay at Ajax this summer. He told Ziggo Sport: “In principle, I will stay at Ajax [this summer], although you never know in football. Maybe in four days there is a club that offers an absurd amount of money and Ajax tell me to go. You can never make predictions one hundred percent, but the possibilities of continuing at Ajax are great.” Recent reports have claimed that Ajax have agreed to sell De Jong to Barca for €50m if they fail to qualify for this season’s Champions League but that has been denied by the player. He added: “That story is one hundred percent false. Certainly, there has been interest from Barcelona and at first those rumours were fine. But now the newspapers are making up a lot of things.” 11:26
BOLTON LET LE FONDRE MAKE DREAM MOVE
Bolton have allowed striker Adam Le Fondre to leave the club to pursue a dream move abroad. The Sky Bet Championship club released a statement on Tuesday confirming the 31-year-old forward had been given permission to speak "with a club overseas regarding a possible transfer after being presented with an opportunity of a lifetime." Reports in the UK and Australia have suggested Le Fondre's destination is A-League side Sydney FC. FULL STORY 11:15
'WATFORD TRIED TO SIGN ALCACER'
Watford made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer earlier this summer, reports Sport. Alcacer is believed to be surplus to requirements at Barca and has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Southampton and Everton, since the turn of the year. In the end, Watford were the only English side to attempt to secure his signature. According to Sport, Watford proposed a two-year loan deal with the option to sign him permanently, but the deal eventually broke down. Barca initially wanted to sell him on a permanent basis but they are now willing to explore other options regarding the striker’s future. Real Betis have sounded out a loan deal for the former Valencia man, while Nice have made an enquiry about his availability too. 11:04
Former Celtic player Andy Walker says the Hoops need to sell Dedryck Boyata and that his team-mates "can not trust him". Boyata was absent as Celtic crashed out of the Champions League in Athens on Tuesday night and, though the player says he is injured, manager Brendan Rodgers claimed after the match that the Belgian was fit. Fulham had a bid for Boyata turned down before the transfer window closed - reportedly worth £9m - and Walker thinks that was a mistake by Celtic. He told Sky Sports: "You have got a big problem with Dedryck Boyata, who has refused to play for the club. If I was a team-mate of his, you know that you cannot trust him. Team spirit is very important and, if you have got someone refusing to play, you have got to get them out the door. “Clearly, it was a mistake to refuse the £9m from Fulham. Boyata had a decent World Cup [for Belgium]. He can go to a club on the continent [the Premier League window is now shut] but I am sure it won't be anything like the £9m Fulham offered. But you have got to get a player who picks and chooses his games out the door, he is absolutely no use to Celtic at all." 10:45
RODGERS: BOYATA WOULD'VE BEEN FIT
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers claimed Dedryck Boyata had been fit to play their Champions League match against AEK Athens, despite the player missing the game with a leg problem. 10:36

Here's what Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has had to say... “Wilf grew up a stone’s throw from Selhurst Park from the age of four, and has been with the club since he was 12. This agreement is yet another example of his lifelong commitment to the club, and our commitment to him. This is an amazing day for everyone here at Palace, our supporters and of course Wilf – and is richly deserved." 09:51
ZAHA REACTION
After putting pen to paper on his new Crystal Palace deal, Wilfried Zaha said... “I’m very pleased. Obviously, I just wanted to get it over and done with, so I can just focus on the season. I’m buzzing that we managed to get it sorted.” 09:48
Thiago Silva has signalled his desire to retire at PSG and says he has not been contacted about a return to former club AC Milan. Silva, who is under contract until 2020, has been a key player for PSG since joining them from Milan back in 2012. Speaking to Canal +, the Brazilian stated that he wants to see out his career in the French capital. He said: “I am at PSG and I am happy in Paris, I have a contract and I hope to retire here.” The 33-year-old has also been linked with a return to Milan this summer but insists no-one from the San Siro has spoken to him about that possibility. He added: “[Milan’s sporting director] Leonardo did not call me to go to Milan.” 09:00
GODIN: I DID NOT ‘USE’ MAN UTD
Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin says he did not use interest from Manchester United to secure an improved contract. Godin says he turned down United for 'personal reasons' - and has not yet signed a new deal with Atletico. Manchester United were interested in adding an experienced defender before the window closed last week and put together an offer for Godin's agent to take to Atletico. But Godin stayed in Madrid and United believe their interest was leveraged into an improved contract for the 32-year-old Uruguay international. However, ahead of Wednesday night's UEFA Super Cup final match against Real Madrid in Tallinn, Godin denied the events were linked. "I have not renewed," Godin said. "I have had offers, although I have decided to stay for personal reasons, and I am only thinking about the final. But I have not extended my contract. I saw that news came out but I do not know where it came from." 08:48
CHELSEA DEENDER SET FOR LEGANES
Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo is set to join Leganes on loan, reports Marca. Omeruo, who has spent the past three seasons on loan in Turkey, is on the verge of signing for Leganes on a season-long deal. The 24-year-old received offers from other LaLiga clubs but has opted to join Leganes, who will have an option to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season. 08:35
WHICH PL STARS COULD STILL LEAVE?
The Premier League transfer window is closed for the summer, but that does not mean there won't be more transfer activity before the end of the month. While Premier League clubs can no longer sign players, they can sell to leagues where the windows are still open. In Spain, France and Germany the window does not shut until August 31 while in Italy the window closes on August 17. So which players could leave the Premier League before the end of August? From Anthony Martial to Loris Karius and Danny Rose, we pick out 10 to keep an eye on… READ HERE 08:17
Zinedine Zidane wants to return to management in the Premier League, reports L’Equipe. Zidane has been out of work since surprisingly handing in his resignation at Real Madrid in May, less than a week after winning the Champions League for the third time in three seasons. According to L’Equipe, he is planning to return to work next season and wants to do so in the Premier League. Various recent reports have touted him as a possible successor to Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and the Frenchman would be open to managing at Old Trafford. 07:59
Brendan Rodgers claimed Dedryck Boyata had been fit to play despite missing Celtic's 2-1 defeat at AEK Athens, which put them out of the Champions League 3-2 on aggregate. The Belgium defender, subject of a failed £9m bid by Fulham before the English transfer window closed, had posted a video of him receiving treatment before Tuesday night's game in Greece. His agent Jacques Lichtenstein was quoted earlier in the week by DH.be saying that as his client is in the final year of his contract, he could not risk playing when not 100 per cent fit. After the narrow defeat in the second leg of the third qualifying round tie in the Olympic Stadium, where a late Scott Sinclair goal reduced the deficit after goals from Rodrigo Galo and Marko Livaja had put the home side 2-0 up, the Parkhead boss confirmed Boyata had been fit. Rodgers, who was also without suspended defender Kristoffer Ajer, said: "Yes, we were obviously missing our two best centre-halves this evening, unfortunately. My concentration really until I get back is only with the players that are here. But yes, Dedryck would have been fit to play." 07:23
SESSEGNON UNFAZED BY TRANSFER TALK
Ryan Sessegnon says talk of a move away from Fulham has not distracted him and that he remains focused on playing for the Premier League side. The teenager burst onto the scene back in 2016, when he was just 16, and has established himself as a regular in Slavisa Jokanovic's side at Craven Cottage. However, his performances have attracted the attention of larger clubs, with Tottenham reportedly keen to take the versatile player to north London. Sessegnon admitted the attention is flattering, but said: "You always see little bits and bobs when teams are linked with you, but I was always staying focused on playing for Fulham. That's my main focus - just getting my head down and playing for Fulham. “Of course as a young player, when you get linked to these clubs playing Champions League football, it's always flattering." At 25 he's an experienced figure, particularly on the international scene where he is closing on a half-century of caps for his country. But aside from that, who is Alireza Jahanbakhsh?
